Michael’s 21st, December 1979
This 1970s wallpaper is still on the walls of my mother’s dining room. I can’t remember exactly when my father put the wallpaper up but I know it was there on my 14th birthday – I’m 59 now. This picture of my brother Michael was taken by his friend Trevor on his birthday in December 1979, in our house in Goodmayes, Ilford. It has been in our family since the 50s, and little has changed. It still has the kitchen my father made when I was small!
